Megan woke up that Sunday morning to see Trey smiling at her with a grin so wide it showed all his teeth.

“Good morning,” he said. “Very, very good morning. After a very, very good night.”

“It was good, wasn’t it, getting the Thumbtop back.”

“That too, but I mean after you went to sleep.” He did a pirouette. “We’ve been making plans, me and the Big Cheese.”

“Oh?”

“He’ll tell you about them himself. He wanted to talk to you earlier, but when I told him you were asleep, he said he’d wait. Do you know the last time that guy waited for someone to wake up? Probably never. He must think you’re the greatest thing since sliced cheese.”

Which was nice, but what could he want from her now? Megan waited while Trey set up an IM conversation on the Thumbtop.

“Here we go,” he said, as the first words from the Big Cheese unrolled on the screen. Megan picked up her magnifying glass and read:
